“Olympic BMX isn't about X Games stunts, however. It is full-contact mayhem for the fastest 30 seconds in Beijing.”

YOUR FIRST DAY
- Arrive early and introduce yourself. If you come on a race day our registration trailer is where you will go. Say you are new and one of our veteran riders will make sure you get a tour, and ride with you on the track. If you come by a practice, say hello to anyone with tools, they will get you a host for the day.
- Get your gear ready. You will need to have a helmet, long pants, long sleeve shirt, and closed-toe shoes as per the NBL rulebook. We have loaner helmets in many sizes.
- Bike Inspection is held before each race to ensure that your bicycle is safe and mechanically fit. Most bikes are appropriate, pegs, kickstands and bar extensions may need to be removed.
- Practice the course as much as possible so that you feel comfortable with the starting gate, obstacles, and turns.
- Tip: Take a training clinic before your first race. CJBMX is home to many riders who want to help you, including professional racers. These riders are willing to provide pointers, and often conduct rider clinics.
- Attend the new rider meeting. Before every race with new riders CJBMX provides a clinic to make sure you are comfortable with the facilities and the order of the day.
- Race Time! Listen to the announcers and get ready for your first race. Though it can be tough to relax, just try to keep your mind focused on having fun. The rest is up to you. Good luck!
